Overview
The conference begins Sunday evening (Aug 20) with an opening reception at the Historic John Adams Courthouse, a short walk from our conference hotel, the Omni Parker House in downtown Boston. The Omni is located along Freedom Trail at the foot of Beacon Hill, Boston Common, Quincey Market, and Faneuil Hall Marketplace.
Participants will spend their first day in an interactive Leadership Academy led by Dr. Daniel Shapiro, Harvard University. It will equip attendees with a powerful cutting-edge framework developed by the Harvard Negotiation Project to help improve your working relationships and in building trust with others, especially those in loosely-coupled court organizations where top-down command and control approaches are commonly not an option. Break-out groups will allow court leadership teams to work together in skills development.
The second and third days include over 20-hours of Plenary Sessions and Workshops directed at what court leaders need to know and do to improve their courts and associated justice systems. Information on specific educational content and a detailed conference agenda will be available in April as speakers and curricula are confirmed.
The Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) Center is where all educational sessions will take place, including on-site, hosted lunches. It, too, is a short walk from the Omni Parker House Hotel. On Tuesday evening, conferees and their guests are invited to a hosted private reception and tour of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, located on Columbia Point, a ten-acre park overlooking Boston and the sea. Transportation will be provided.
The conference adjourns Wednesday (Aug 23) at 12:30 PM with a closing plenary presentation.
