A Letter from the NAPCO President

John Russo

NAPCO President Judge John J. Russo

My name is John J. Russo and I am the administrative and presiding judge of the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. I am also the president of newly-formed National Association for Presiding Judges and Court Executive Officers (NAPCO).

Our Court is located in the heart of downtown Cleveland where the 2016 Trial Court Leadership Conference will be held on September 25th through the 28th.

We are so excited to be hosting this inaugural conference, a collaboration between the National Center for State Courts and NAPCO. There are challenges facing the courts, and by meeting together we can discuss solutions, best practices, and collaboration. As individual Courts, we make a difference in our communities. By working together, we can make a difference across the country.

Our list of discussions ranges from resistance to change…to crisis planning…to hot topics facing us daily. I think NAPCO will have a lot to offer, and the two-year process of putting the organization together has shown me what we can aspire to.

And this meeting will be happening in a city on the rise. Cleveland is undergoing an amazing renaissance. There is an excitement and energy here that we haven’t seen in decades. A number of incredible transformations are underway, many in preparation for the Republican National Convention in July.

Not only to do we have the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame sitting on the shores of Lake Erie, we also have one of the world’s great orchestras, a world-class art museum that is free to the public, and an amazing network of nationally recognized restaurants. Cleveland has a rich sports history with the Browns and the Indians. And to say that LeBron James has put the Cavaliers back in the spotlight would be an understatement.

All of this is accessible within minutes of where you’ll be staying downtown. I can’t wait to show off our city.

So please…take the next step and register below for the inaugural Trial Court Leadership Conference in Cleveland. Remember…it’s September 25 through 28. I look forward to seeing you on the “North Coast”!
